Make the line clear

Door boundary practice is easier when the dog can see and feel the setup. Use a leash, gate, or enough distance so rushing through does not self-reward.

First reps

  • Start several steps from the door.
  • Reward still feet or a check-in.
  • Open the door only a little.
  • Mark the pause.
  • Release through only on easy successful reps.

Keep safety separate

Training is not a substitute for management. Use barriers and leashes where a mistake could reach a road, hallway, visitor, or another animal.

Bokedex outputs are best treated as context for owner decisions. For health concerns, safety concerns, panic, biting risk, or sudden behavior change, involve a veterinarian, certified trainer, or qualified behavior professional.
