Breed
Point your camera at your dog or pick a photo. Bokedex shows the closest breeds with a match for each and names the family a mixed dog leans toward. Then swipe through all 129 breeds as 3D models, each with a dossier.
How it works
One dog, face and body in view. Bokedex checks there's a dog in the photo first, so a flower or a sofa won't get a breed.
The top match with a percentage, the runners-up, and a mixed-breed family when the photo leans several ways.
The breed's 3D model, then looks, care, character and the health concerns worth raising with your vet.
The Breeds tab
Swipe through a few. In the app, every breed glows in its own colours and opens a dossier on looks, care, character and health.
A 99% match on a purebred golden retriever means the photo looks very much like the breed. Mixed dogs usually spread across a few breeds, so Bokedex names the family they lean toward, such as a retriever or terrier mix, instead of forcing one answer.
When the photo doesn't point anywhere clearly, you'll see “Hard to tell”. Those results don't count against your free reads.
Height and weight ranges, like 21–24 in and 55–75 lb for a golden retriever.
The usual range in years.
Typical coat colors and eye color.
Energy, trainability, grooming, shedding and size on one colour web.
Traits the breed is known for, like intelligent, energetic or good-natured.
Breed-specific health concerns to ask your vet about.
Looks and genes don't always line up, especially in mixed dogs. A photo match is a good starting point for care, exercise and training questions. If you need to know for health or insurance reasons, a DNA test is the right tool.
And breed is only a rough guide to the dog in front of you. Your own dog's history and daily behavior matter more than any breed average.
Good to know. Breed matches come from how your dog looks in the photo, so a clear, well-lit shot of the whole dog gives the best match. Try a second photo from another angle to compare.
Questions
129 breeds, each as a 3D model with a dossier, plus mixed-breed families for dogs that don't match one breed well.
Yes. The Breeds tab is a slider of 3D cards, each dog glowing in its own colours, with search. Breeds you've spotted with a read are marked, and every card opens the dossier.
It shows the breeds a mixed dog looks closest to and names the family it leans toward. It can't list exact ancestry; that's a DNA test's job.
Yes. The breed model runs on your iPhone, and photos aren't uploaded.
Usually the photo: too dark, too far, a strong filter, or only part of the dog in view. Try a clear, side-on photo in good light. Some breeds also look alike from certain angles.
The free plan includes one breed read a month, and “Hard to tell” results don't count. Premium makes them unlimited.
