Bokedex

A practical iOS companion for dog owners: local bark context reads, visual mood hints, likely breed matches, breed lookup, and short reward-based coaching.

On-device first Dog photos, bark clips, camera frames, and coaching records stay local for the main app experience.
Context, not certainty Results are framed as signals that should be checked against the real dog and setting.
Reward-based Coaching uses short sessions, clear criteria, and reinforcement your dog values.

App overview

One calm place for everyday dog context.

Bokedex is built for quick owner decisions: capture a moment, read it locally, and choose a thoughtful next step without pretending one model output explains the whole dog.

Bark Context

Record or import a short clip, choose the closest scene hint, and get a broad local context read with uncertainty when the audio is weak.

Mood Scan

Use a dog photo or live frame for an experimental visual mood hint that stays separate from bark analysis.

Breed Scan and Lookup

Compare likely visual matches and search a bundled local breed catalog for facts, care traits, and family notes.

Coaching

Build short reward-based sessions for practical home skills, with measured support for narrow drills where the camera can observe the target.

How the app works

Capture, read, act calmly.

The app’s pattern is intentionally restrained. It helps collect a cleaner signal, shows the local read, and nudges owners toward small, humane next steps.

1

Capture

Record a bark clip, choose a dog photo, open a live camera flow, or search the breed catalog directly.

2

Read locally

Bark, photo, breed, and coaching flows use bundled on-device models and app-side thresholds.

3

Use context

Results point to practical owner actions: rescan, manage the setup, check the guide library, or run a short coaching session.

Bark Context

Broad bark context, not a literal dog-language read.

Bokedex analyzes short bark clips on device and can surface alarm or alert, attention or contact, food or begging, play or excitement, non-target or other, and uncertain or mixed.

  • Use the session rollup across several clips instead of over-weighting one thin sample.
  • Check dog-vocal support and noise risk separately from the final context read.
  • Treat TV, people talking, traffic, and overlapping dogs as confounders.
Owner guardrail. Audio alone is not enough to infer welfare, intent, pain, or fear. Pair the read with body language and the situation.

Mood Scan

A visual mood hint from a photo or live frame.

Mood scan is experimental and intentionally separate from bark analysis. It can lean angry or tense, happy or upbeat, relaxed or calm, sad or low, or uncertain.

  • Use clear lighting and one visible dog.
  • Retake if the photo is blurry, heavily cropped, or backlit.
  • Read the result alongside posture, movement, sound, and recent context.
Hint, not a welfare judgment. One image can miss motion, history, and the reason behind the expression.

Breed Scan

Likely breed matches from a dog photo.

Breed scan compares visual cues against a local breed model and surfaces top matches, mixed-family hints when appropriate, and a lighter result screen before deeper facts.

  • Use a full-body photo when possible.
  • Compare top matches when similar-looking breeds are close.
  • Use family hints as softer context for mixed-breed photos.
Not an ancestry test. A photo can suggest visual matches, but it cannot confirm ancestry percentages.

Breed Lookup

Search the local breed index.

Breed lookup lets owners open local breed dossiers without running a photo scan first. Facts are presented as practical context for care, grooming, activity, and training questions.

Golden Retriever

A sporting and gundog breed commonly associated with sociable work, carrying games, active routines, and reward-based training that pays attention and calm resets.

Coaching

Short reward-based sessions for real home skills.

The coaching ladder is built around one skill at a time: name recognition, engagement, house training, sit, down, quiet at home, stay, recall, leash, place, leave it, drop it, door boundaries, crate rest, greeting neutrality, and handling.

Today’s lesson

Engagement

Offer attention and easy follow movement before any extra cue pressure. Keep the session short and end while the dog can still recover easily.

Reward-Based Coaching Philosophy

Clear criteria, short reps, kind resets.

Bokedex coaching is intentionally conservative. It supports everyday practice but does not replace veterinarians, certified trainers, or behavior professionals.

One criterion

Change duration, distance, distraction, or realism one at a time so the dog can understand the job.

Short sessions

Most lessons use a few minutes and a small success target instead of long repetitive drills.

Stress checks

If the dog stops eating, hardens, hides, freezes, or cannot recover, the next step is easier or professional support.

Dog Owner Guide Library
