What reward-based means here

Reward-based training means you arrange the setup so the dog can succeed, mark the behavior you want, and pay with something the dog values. The goal is not bribery. The goal is clear communication and a dog who can stay engaged.

A simple session structure

  • Pick one behavior or one tiny criterion shift.
  • Prepare small rewards before you cue anything.
  • Run a short set while the dog is still interested.
  • Mark the exact moment you want to keep.
  • Reset gently when the dog misses instead of repeating the cue.

What to avoid

Do not stretch sessions until the dog is tired. Do not mix several hard criteria at once. Do not use startling or painful tools as shortcuts. If your dog cannot eat, recover, or think in the setup, the setup is too hard.

Bokedex outputs are best treated as context for owner decisions. For health concerns, safety concerns, panic, biting risk, or sudden behavior change, involve a veterinarian, certified trainer, or qualified behavior professional.
